Saplings School Mullingar | Educating For Life

History

Saplings School Mullingar is a co-educational specialist school, providing quality education for pupils with autism and complex needs.  It is one of five Saplings schools in the greater Leinster area.

Originally known as Saplings Midlands, the school opened its doors in February 2006 and was located at Oaklawns Mullingar, with an enrolment of 12 pupils.  In 2011 Saplings Mullingar was granted a roll number from Department of Education and Skills and in September 2012, Saplings Mullingar relocated to larger premises on Austin Friar Street in Mullingar and now has the capacity to cater for up to 30 children. Saplings continue to grow.

The school offers a range of child-centred, autism specific education which draws on a range of evidence based interventions. The school recognises that all appropriate means of education and support are valuable in assisting all the children to develop and reach their full potential, to be active in their own communities and to lead as much of an independent life as is possible.  The school has brought great hope and comfort to the families of the children who attend the school.
